Fear of exam, lack of preparation hence feeling less confident, all these could be the reason. Do not prude on any past failures,  any such experience are only a learning curve and stepping stone towards success. If you make up your mind with confidence, begin from where you can begin and gradually move ahead. Talk to your faculty to learn right study methodology or you may even consult a Counsellor who can empower to handle failures, help with study skills etc.
