Fracture of spine can cause difficulty in movement for the patient. If power in his legs and hands is normal, if he has control over his urine and no tingling sensation in legs/arms ...Then we can get away without surgery but he needs to take proper rest and supports in form of belt for the fracture. Needs further scans in case his power and sensation is not normal.

Kindly share his xrays of the affected part If there is no neurological deficit, he is unlikely to need surgery.
