There are effective treatments available to reduce pain and dryness and some to reduce the pox. Delaying or no treatment can lead to a condition called post herpetic neuralgia. Considering the above facts delaying consultation is not advisable. Other family members who never had chicken pox should be advised to refrain from close contact with affected member or isolate the affected member as pox can cause chicken pox in others.
