Changing side while sleep

My wife is 22 weeks pregnant. She was advised by her elders that if she wants to change sides while sleeping she has to get up, sit, turn sides and then lay back on the side. They say that if she keep changing sides while lying down, the umbilical cord will wrap around the baby's neck.

Hi, sleeping on left side is good , changing sides in lying position will not cause any cord to wrap. Its the baby who moves around and cord wrapping happens. It can't be prevented. It does not happen to each person also. Sleep on left side as more blood supply will be to your baby , then you can turn right. Less on back.

Hello, Sleeping on left side is fine. Changing sleep positions will not have any effect on the cord. Cord wrapping happens if the baby moves around and not the mother. Sleeping on left side increases blood flow to the baby. Sleep less on back.
