I was taking metformin 500 mg twice daily. From some days back i started feeling shaky dizziness hunger. I went to doctor and my serum insulin level was high ie 240 more than 9 times of normal level and cortisol was lower approximate half of desired value. Doctor started pigolit 30 once daily. I want to know how technically metformin differs from pigolit 30. Is it safe does it have any serious side effect like heart failure and bladder cancer.

Pioglitazone can cause fluid retention, weight gain and bone loss. There are other ways to improve Insulin sensitivity without such side effects. Have you been checked for reactive vs fasting hypoglycemia?
