Yes in most cases the k wires can be removed after 6 weeks after getting the nod from your orthopaedic surgeon(after examining the x-ray,MRI)....after removal of k wires....you will feel stifness in your heel and ankle(sometimes pain)..however its common post fracture symptom.... gradually u should start ankle range of motion exercises initially free rom later with resistance....once ankle rom and weight bearing is established...a guided gait training can be initiated....followed by stair climbing and coming down..... through the various post fracture rehab cases i see,, 3 weeks is more than enough after k wire removal for u to be fine.
Regards & take care.
