Hi doctor I have intra external hemorrhoids which was found during sigmoidoscopy done an year ago . Usually once a while I used to notice blood in stools. However today there was excessive blood in stool and blood dripping and swollen anus with extreme pain in the rectum area. Is this any emergency ? Or will it subside on its own. Thanks

Hi you need a physical examination. This may be a hemorrhoid or rarely a colonic ulcer

Internal piles do not cause pain. External poles cause mild pain. But if external piles get thrombosed it causes severe pain. Other cause of severe pain is fissure because of CONSTIPATION. These need to be differentiated.
