Bone enlargement in foot

The talus bone is enlarged like hook downwards of the left leg seen on x-ray. Severe pain after getting some rest. Thyroid hormone level is severely high. Antithyriod tablets are not working inspite of a month's medication. Injection into the bone is not showing any improvement too. Should we go for surgery or rely on antithyroid medication?

If your talus is deformed and impinging on the surrounding structures, just antithyroid drugs are not going to work. U need to get a CT of the foot and ankle to delineate the exact problem first and cause and site of pain.

Depending upon how much enlarged the bone is. you can either opt for surgery or you can go for a physiotherapeutic modality known as ultrasound.

Till the time you decide what to go for, try to wear shoes which provide good comfort. with softer insole.
