Bone Cracking Sound issue knees

2026-04-01 04:36:56
I have been experiencing a persistent cracking sound in my knees whenever I bend them deeply or sit with my legs crossed, and this issue has gradually become more noticeable over time. Recently I also noticed similar sounds beginning in my shoulder, which has made me more concerned about what might be causing these sensations. Although the cracking is not always accompanied by pain, there are moments when my knees feel uncomfortable and even slightly painful after repeated movement or extended periods of sitting or standing, which affects my daily routine and makes me more cautious about my movements overall.

Because you have persistent cracking (crepitus) and knee pain in both knees - this can be pointing towards early stages of Chondromalacia Patella. It is common in young females/athletes. A detailed history and clinical evaluation will be helpful.
Next Steps
- Get Xray knee (AP, lateral, skyline) - maybe inconclusive in early stages. - MRI
Health Tips
- Apply Ice pack. - Avoid jumping, running, deep squatting (high impact activities) which will worsen the pain. - Physiotherapy to strengthen quadriceps, hip muscles and hamstrings.
