This depends on which tooth that has been crowned. If it is you front tooth/teeth, yes you should avoid biting/incising on it. This is especially so if the dentist has put a 'post and core' into the tooth.
If it is back tooth, biting should not be as critical an issue as front tooth. But having said these, the dynamic of your biting can only be examined by the clinicians who have seen you.
