Antidepressants are a class of drugs used to treat various mood disorders including depression. These medications help stabilize a person's brain chemicals to improve mood. It's important to meet with your doctor, carefully evaluate your circumstances, and put together a plan that safely allows you to decrease your antidepressant dosage over several weeks or months. It can take up to six weeks after the first dose of medication before it has an antidepressant effect. For some people, it can take up to 2 months or a little longer before they start to feel better, and the maximum benefit is felt after 6 months.

Hi. One cannot deny the importance of medicines while treating depression but let's not forget that the problem are the automatic negative thoughts which keeps you up and unable to concentrate. That's where a psychologist steps in and help you. Go for counselling/therapeutic intervention for a better approach to your treatment.

Hello. May I know which anti depressants you are on? And the dosage? Kindly consult a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and treatment. Difficult to tell the duration of treatment with out knowing much about your condition.
