AVN in hip joint both left and right

2022-03-25 08:56:08
Hi Doctors, My husband has been diagnosed with AVN. His MRI report says.. *vascular necrosis of superior portion of head of right femur involving 45-50% with mild subchondral collapse - Stage III (FICAT and ARLET classification) *Avascular necrosis of superior portion of head of left femur involving 55-60%. No evidence of subchondral collapse - Stage II (FICAT and ARLET classification). *Mild bilateral hip joint effusion. In this case, is core decompression suggested or any other procedure that can help cure this problem? Any suggestions?

Considering your age For your husband core decompression may be helpful if not go with hip resurfacing arthroplasty only if acetabular cup is normal

Left hip an attempt can be done for core decompression Right hip it won’t be of much use better option would be hip replacement.
