Appetite problem

My 18 months baby not eat properly. my doctor advise cyproheptadine hydrochloride ip(maha app) syrup morning 2.5 ml and eving 2.5 ml. my question is how many days will give this syrup. this is good for baby health or not please advise me

Basically,this drug is an antiallergic,increased appetite being a side effect,which is used for positive results. Avoid giving it,appetite WILL increase till the time you're giving it,the minute you stop,it'll go back to earlier one. Rather than relying on meds,alter the diet. Stop bottle feeding  and breastfeeding if given,give just 2 top milk feeds using a glass and 4 solid meals a day including curd and Banana in the diet. If her weight is about 4 times of birth weight,relax,you're doing fine!

Cyproheptadine is used for low appetite..It can be given for a month...Ideally i dont recommend the use of such medicines..As long as your child is active and gaining weight properly ..dont worry...
