Yes both appendicitis and IBS can cause right side lower abdomen pain , but appendix is an acute condition , means it presents for a short duration and with severe symptoms which is progressive and fatal if left untreated at the earliest. IBS is a chronic condition though it may present acutely at times where it may be termed as acute on chronic , symptoms are usually tolerable and not fatal as appendicitis
