  4. Antibiotics. No use in viral infections?

I told doctor that I have mild fever Cold and cough. He gave amoxicillin 250mg. Is it of any use? Because everywhere it is being told that antibiotics must not be given for viral infections. I was also given many antibiotics such as Olcefone Inj 1000mg, Augmentin 625mg during dengue fever as well. Why do some doctors give antibiotics for viral infections inspite of being told everywhere that it is of no use in viral infections?

How do you know your fever is viral or bacterial? If your doctor gave you antibiotics, you ask him why. How will we know why he gave antibiotics. He has seen and examined the patient, not us so you can only ask him.
