If one can control anger in the first 10 to 20 seconds there will not be unnecessary outburst or temper tantrum. This is easy to say but if we daily read about anger management from our time-tested Vedic knowledge from India, then it becomes easier to apply the knowledge at the time of impulse of anger.
The reason for holding on to anger is for the angry person to prove to himself or herself that he or she is right and the other person is wrong
Best way is to observe the anger and let it diminish by itself without acting on it. -- courtesy of Mother Urmila.
At the time of peak of anger one should strictly restrain oneself from acting upon the anger till the adrenaline rush cools down
At the time of rush of adrenaline we should take a deep breath and become aware of the long-term pros and cons of release of anger. Anger management comes by practice
Anger can be used as a tool to compassionately correct a person so that the person does not have to suffer for his mistakes, if anger is utilised in this way then we will not lose our self control while getting angry because with such a mood anger is not for our own ego but for the benefit of others
Sunil Vaswani: How to deal with angry and hateful thoughts?
Angry, hateful thoughts are like poison – literally poison. They not only pollute our minds, such thoughts physically release very harmful substances into our body. Anger and hatred toward another person is like trying to hurt the offender by ourselves drinking poison.
That doesn’t mean the other person should not be challenged or stopped, BUT that should be done with love. In other words because we LOVE that jiva (part and parcel of the Lord) we don’t want them to suffer so we try to correct their activity so they will not suffer in the future for what they are doing.
So my humble advice is if you find someone being dishonest try to correct them with love. If you can’t do that, at least take a breath and think before you speak. Words are like arrows. Once released they cannot be retracted. - HG Ramananda Prabhu
