He's most probably suffering from alcohol use disorder for which he should consider taking treatment from a psychiatrist.
Given his past history, he might not be very cooperative patient and it would be tough to take him to a psychiatrist.
Giving medicines without his knowledge or consent won't be much effective and might have adverse reactions if you plan to give alcohol deterrent medicines like that ,so that is not recommended.
If he agrees to talk with a psychiatrist you should book an appointment online.
You can tell him it is just to talk about his anger and alcohol issues and he won't be labeled as an addict or mentally ill just by taking with a psychiatrist. No medicine will be given without informing him and gradually we can convince him and motivate him enough to consider starting treatment. Might be long process but in my opinion that's the way forward.
Don't blame him for getting in all troubles or get angry at him, don't shame him.
Try to be supportive and make him realise that you just want to help.
Next Steps
convince him to just talk with an expert for his anger and alcohol issues.
Health Tips
don't give alcohol deterrent medicines given by babas or available as Ayurvedic powder in medical stores, if he takes alcohol while on those medicines, he can get serious adverse reaction.
