Sir, I have a myopia of around -8.5 and astigmatism of -1.5. Power provided is contact lens power. I want to know what kind of lens i should prefer? Does toric lens hurts as i have heard that it isn't soft.

You can have spherical 9 and if it doesn't fit then you will have to use toric lens but if the axis is oblique  more than 15 degree either side then they will not be convenient and you will have to use especially prepared balance lenses.
