Acl ligament tear
Hi doctors,
I need an opinion on the below case.
As per the MRI reports attached, i got my ACL Ligament tear to 3rd proximal level.
Firstly my doctor suggested to have a surgery done and gave 15 days medicine. After 15 days when i revisited the doctor and told that the swelling n pain was decreased as i was having physiotherapy and medicine dose.
He suggested to take medicine n physiotherapy for 1 more month and monitor.
Can the ACL Ligament complete tear 3rd proximal level be treated without surgery. If yes how many months are needed to recover and what precautions needed to be taken ?
If you have features like instability and or knee weakness and inability to run.
Then you may need to.get this ACL redone.
ACL deficient knee.. works well for people with low life demands.
Next Steps
As you are 24...you should consider ACL reconstruction, if your knee does not attain pre injury status with physiotherapy .

At your age group yes ACL Reconstruction should be done to prevent future complications. However you must have sounded low threshold to your surgeon that is why he has recommended no surgery. It basically depends on your compliance Short term you might improve but in long term problems will arise

The tear itself will not heal without surgery.
If you are not willing for surgery, please consult with a physiotherapist and strengthen your knee.
You will be able to walk and do your day to day activity. But you have to avoid any type of strenuous activity.
If your knee continues to move in an abnormal manner, it will get eroded from inside and cause persistent pain which will then not respond to surgery also.
