The Eye Foundation is an eye hospital in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, founded by Dr. D. Ramamurthy. Over more than three decades it has treated over a million patients from Coimbatore, Tirupur, the Nilgiris and the surrounding districts, and the institution holds several firsts in ophthalmology in India.Its core clinical services cover cataract surgery with the full range of intraocular lenses; laser refractive correction including LASIK and SMILE, performed on a Zeiss MEL 80 workstation; management and surgery for vitreoretinal disease using an advanced constellation vitrectomy system; specialised glaucoma care; cornea services including keratoconus management, corneal transplantation and eye bank services; paediatric ophthalmology and squint clinics; oculoplasty and facial aesthetics; neuro-ophthalmology; uvea and ocular inflammation; and ocular trauma.The hospital also provides optometry and comprehensive optical services, contact lenses and low-vision aids, ocular prosthesis, and a computer vision syndrome clinic. Its diagnostic infrastructure includes advanced tools for comprehensive eye examination and surgical microscopes.The facility covers 65,000 square feet, with 18 consultation rooms, 20 optometry lanes, two optical outlets, five operation theatres, a comprehensive ophthalmic laboratory, 25 inpatient rooms, seven deluxe rooms and a general ward. Inpatient care runs round the clock, with emergency care available at night.
