My grandfather was diagnosed with parotid cancer around 1.5 years ago, but he never felt any pain at that time. It was probably in the last six months that it became very painful. My dad was having trouble with Recurrent colds and persistent cough for past couple of months. Antibiotics used to give temporary relief.
