Wart is the fleshy outgrowth on the skin. It occurs on various parts of the body. It is caused by a virus which is a human papilloma virus.

There are three main types of warts. They are as follows; plantar warts which are generally found in the sole, genital warts are the warts which appear in the genital area and flat warts occur mostly on the face.

Non-surgical treatment options for warts are the use of salicylic acid, use of liquid nitrogen to remove the wart, use of ointment containing medications that stop cell growth, use of antiviral medicines and use of injections containing different medicines in it.

Wart removal surgery is usually performed by a surgeon or a skin specialist who is referred to as a dermatologist.

Generally warts tend to get treated on their own, but if they are not treated and become persistent, then a wart needs surgical treatment.
