Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection in humans, animals, especially rodents and other domestic animals. The infection is contracted by humans most commonly when they come in contact with the water contaminated with the infected urine of the animals.

The cause of leptospirosis is a bacteria belonging to the genus leptospira. The condition is usually considered as an occupational hazard for people working in farms, mines, sewages, slaughterhouses and dairies.
