Hydrotherapy, also known as water cure is a therapeutic whole-body treatment which is a part of alternative medicine and physiotherapy. It involves moving and exercising in water to treat various conditions like arthritis and pain relief. It can also help adults and children who are labile to lose strength and have an increase in weight.

Hydrotherapy uses water jets and provides underwater massage and mineral bath in various forms, including whirlpool or aquatic therapy, contrast bathing, hydro-massage, spas, Kneipp system, mineral shower, hot Roman bath, hot tub yoga baths, etc.

The initial assessment requires typically 30-45 minutes. However, each session in the course of hydrotherapy approximately lasts for 30 minutes.

Various hospitals provide hydrotherapy sessions. It is available in Mumbai, New Delhi and Hyderabad. In Mumbai, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital; in New Delhi, Primus Super Speciality Hospital and BLK Super Speciality Hospital; and in Hyderabad, Continental Hospital, respectively.

The pools used in hydrotherapy treatment are quite shallow, so there is no need to be able to swim to get benefitted from hydrotherapy. Even though technically swimming is not necessary, a fearful person would not be able to relax correctly, so knowing how to swim can help.
