1. What is vertigo?
Vertigo is a feeling of spinning, even when the person is not moving. You may feel like everything around you is moving in circles. It may also be accompanied by feeling nauseous and vomiting, or abnormal eye movements and sweating.

Vertigo is usually caused due to problems with the inner ear, like:
Infections of the inner ear
• Change in the pressure of inner ear as in Meniere's disease
• Hole in the inner ear
• Migraines
• Medications which can damage the ear
• Tumors
• Head injury
• Stroke
3. How is vertigo different from motion sickness?
Motion sickness is something you experience when you are travelling in any vehicle, while in the case of vertigo, you experience dizziness even if you are still. Vertigo primarily occurs due to problems with the inner ear, while motion sickness occurs due to a disagreement between the sense organs like eyes and ears.

A change in position of the head or instability in position can be a trigger. There can be different triggers in different people. Some of the triggers are listed below:

• Bending to reach something
• Sitting up
5. Is vertigo curable?
Vertigo can be cured to certain extents depending on the reason causing the symptoms of vertigo. Sometimes exercises of the head and neck can be helpful. Medications, like diuretics and antibiotics or steroids, are also available, which may relieve you of vertigo. In certain rare cases, surgery may be done to eliminate the tumor or correct injuries.
