Signs and symptoms of a brain tumour include more frequent and severe headaches, unexplained nausea or vomiting, difficulty in vision such as blurred vision, double vision, gradual loss of sensation or movement in the limbs, balance difficulty, speech difficulties, confusion in everyday work, seizures and hearing problems.

Causes of a brain tumour can be primary or secondary. In primary brain tumours, there is a mutation in healthy cells DNA. These mutations allow cells to divide and grow abnormally at increased rates and to continue living when healthy cells would die. Secondary (metastatic) brain tumours are tumours that result from cancer that starts elsewhere in your body and then spreads to your brain.

Abnormal growths of cells in the brain results in brain tumour, which can be benign or malignant. Cancer is a term used for malignant tumours.

Two type of brain tumours include fast and slow-growing. Some slow-growing tumours cannot be cured but grow very slowly. Some tumors may also cause death if not diagnosed on time. In fast-growing tumours, recurrences are common.

Management of a brain tumour depends on the type, size and location of the tumour, and your overall health. Surgery can be done to remove the tumor if that part of the brain is accessible. X-rays or protons are used to kill tumour cells which is called the radiation therapy whereas drugs are used to kill tumor cells in chemotherapy which can be taken orally or through veins.
