Description
Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet is a combination of Hydrochlorothiazide and Olmesartan. It is used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). This medicine works by relaxing the blood vessels and also increasing the water and sodium excretion from the body. Thus it promotes the smooth flow of blood and also allows your heart to pump blood more efficiently. Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet has some side effects like cough, nausea, headache, upset stomach, etc. This medicine may cause you to urinate more often as it works by removing extra water from your body. If any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get worse, consult your doctor immediately. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet may be taken with or without food as instructed by your doctor. Avoid the discontinuation of this medicine without consulting your doctor as it can cause your blood pressure to rise and further worsen your condition. Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet should be used with caution if you have kidney or liver problems, or diabetes. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicine before starting the treatment. Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding.

Allergy

Anuria

Aliskiren

Coadministration of Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet and Aliskiren (a medicine used to reduce blood pressure) is not recommended if you have diabetes (high blood sugar levels) and/or moderate to severe kidney impairment as it may increase the risk of kidney damage.

Kidney impairment

Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use if you have kidney problems as it may increase the risk of accumulation of this medicine in the body. It may also cause further kidney damage.

Moderate to severe liver impairment

Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet should be used with caution if you have moderate to severe liver problems as it may further worsen your condition.

General warnings

Volume and electrolyte depletion

Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet may alter the blood volume and electrolyte levels. This may cause dizziness, dry mouth, thirst, weakness, acid-base imbalance (abnormality in the human body to balance between acid and base), etc. Hence, your blood pressure and electrolyte levels will be periodically monitored by your doctor while you are taking this medication.

Hypotension

Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet should be used with caution as it may cause symptomatic hypotension (low blood pressure), especially if you have volume depletion (excess loss of salt and fluid from the body due to severe diarrhoea, vomiting, burns and kidney problems leading to reduced fluid volume). Your doctor may correct this condition before initiating treatment with Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet.

Hyperkalaemia

Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet should be used with caution as it may cause hyperkalemia (high potassium levels in the blood). Your doctor may suggest tests to periodically monitor your potassium levels. Avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and potassium supplements during treatment with this medicine.

Systemic lupus erythematosus

Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks its own tissues, causing swelling and tissue damage. It can affect the joints, skin, brain, lungs, kidneys, and blood vessels. Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet should be used with caution if you have systemic lupus erythematosus as it may worsen your condition.

Use in children

Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age as the safety and efficacy of this medicine is not clinically established.

Use in athletes

Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet is not recommended to be used by athletes as per the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next scheduled dose, then skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose of Olmeflex H (12.5/20 mg) Tablet. Seek immediate medical attention in case of an overdose.
