Description
New Triclazone 40 Tablet is a combination medicine used as a third-line treatment for type II diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise, single agents, and second-line therapy with two drugs do not result in adequate blood glucose control. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

Allergy

Diabetic ketoacidosis

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Heart Failure

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a history of heart failure since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Severe kidney impairment

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a severe impairment of kidney function due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.

Metabolic Acidosis

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with metabolic acidosis since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Severe Hepatic impairment

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of severe liver impairment due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.

Type 1 Diabetes mellitus

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with type I diabetes mellitus since it is not effective in treating such patients.

Hypoglycemia

This medicine should be administered with caution in patients prone to having hypoglycemic episodes due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. Impaired kidney function

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with an impaired kidney function due to an increase in the risk of kidney injuries and serious adverse effects. Impaired liver function

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with an impaired liver function due to an increase in the risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of liver function is necessary while receiving this medicine. Edema

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with edema due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Ovulation problems

This medicine should be used with caution in premenopausal patients due to the increase in chances of ovulation. Adequate contraceptive measures are recommended for such patients to avoid an unplanned pregnancy.

Bone fractures

This medicine may increase the risk of fractures in some patients. This risk is especially higher in female patients. Close monitoring of bone health is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Stress

Use of this medicine should be discontinued in patients exposed to stressful conditions such as a fever, trauma, surgeries, or accidents since it may not be effective in controlling blood sugar levels in these conditions. Replacement with a suitable alternative should be considered under your doctor's supervision.

Diarrhea

This medicine may cause diarrhea when therapy is initiated. In most cases, diarrhea subsides by itself. Contact your doctor if the problem persists for longer durations. Therapy may need to be discontinued in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Lactic Acidosis

This medicine may cause lactic acidosis, which may be fatal, in some patients. How it works
Metformin decreases absorption of glucose from the intestines and increases the action of insulin in the body. Gliclazide works by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas. Pioglitazone decreases insulin resistance without causing any strain on the pancreas and reduces the production of glucose from the liver. Their combination is thus better effective than monotherapy and second-line therapy in lowering the blood glucose levels.
