Description

Flurazepam is used in the treatment of insomnia, a condition characterized by difficulty falling and staying asleep. This medicine is not recommended for use in children under the age of 15 years.

General warnings

Concomitant Use with Opioids

This medicine should be used with extreme caution due to the increased risk of side effects such as profound sedation, respiratory depression, coma, and death. This risk is especially higher if this medicine is used along with opioids. Close monitoring of the patient for any severe side effects is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

CNS depression

This medicine should be used with extreme caution due to the increased risk of central nervous system depression. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of any unusual symptoms. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Withdrawal Syndrome

This medicine may cause withdrawal syndrome after discontinuation of therapy. This risk is especially higher if the treatment is discontinued abruptly. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of any unusual symptoms such as extreme anxiety, irritability, muscle pain, confusion, restlessness, etc. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. It is advised that you do not take this medicine during the daytime. If it is daytime, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule at bedtime. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.

Closed-Angle Glaucoma

Renal/Liver Disease

Flurazepam should be used with caution in patients with a known history of renal and hepatic diseases due to the increased risk of severe side effects. Close monitoring of hepatic and liver functions is necessary during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments should be done based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Respiratory Depression
