Description

Zocef 1.5 GM Injection is a cephalosporin antibiotic medicine that contains cefuroxime as an active ingredient. It is used to treat bacterial infections affecting the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin and urinary tract (kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra). It is also used to treat a sexually transmitted infection caused by Neisseria gonorrhoea bacteria that infects both men and women. This injection stops the growth of or kills the bacteria that cause infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Zocef 1.5 GM Injection can cause side effects like pain at the injection site, headache, weakness, dizziness and diarrhoea. Avoid driving or operating machines after taking this medicine as it can affect your concentration. Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to it. It should only be used to treat or prevent infections that are caused by bacteria. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended that you finish the entire course of treatment. Zocef 1.5 GM Injection may not be suitable for all people. Hence, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems and also let your doctor know the medications you are using. Before receiving this injection inform your doctor if you are pregnant or a breastfeeding mother.

What is it prescribed for?

Lung infections

Zocef 1.5 GM Injection is used to treat the following lung infections caused by bacteria: 1. Pneumonia is an infection of the air sacs in the lungs (either single or both lungs). It can be bacterial and viral. 2. Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that causes obstruction to air passage in your lungs.

Skin and soft tissue infections

Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Zocef 1.5 GM Injection is used to treat all skin infections including abscess caused by bacteria.

Bacterial septicemia

Bacterial septicemia is an infection of the blood caused by bacteria. In this infection, the immune system releases a lot of chemicals into your blood. They can cause severe organ damage. Zocef 1.5 GM Injection is used for the treatment of bacterial septicemia.

Bone and Joint infections

These are infections that occur in the bones and joints. Osteomyelitis is an infection of the bone and septic arthritis is an infection in a joint. These infections can occur due to a bone/joint injury or through blood by which bacteria, virus, or fungi invade a bone/joint. Zocef 1.5 GM Injection is used for the treatment of osteomyelitis and septic arthritis caused by bacteria.

Urinary tract infections
