Description

Tormoxin Plus Capsule is an antibiotic combination containing Amoxycillin and Dicloxacillin. This medicine is used for treating a wide variety of bacterial infections of the lungs, middle ear, sinuses, skin, urinary tract, bone, etc. Your doctor may also prescribe this medicine as a preventive treatment to avoid the occurrence of heart disease (endocarditis). This medicine is not recommended for treating a common cold, flu, or other infections caused by viruses or fungi. Tormoxin Plus Capsule use may lead to side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen. Avoid taking this medicine if you have a known allergy to it and discontinue if any allergic reactions (skin rash, hives, swelling of face, lips, etc.) are experienced. Tormoxin Plus Capsule should be taken with food to prevent an upset stomach. Take the capsule as a whole without crushing or breaking it. Avoid consuming more than the prescribed dose and make sure that the course of antibiotic treatment is completed as directed by your doctor. Do not stop taking on your own even if you feel better. Tormoxin Plus Capsule may interact with other health conditions and medicines. Inform your doctor if you have/had any medical conditions of the heart, liver or kidney.. and also about the medicines that you are taking currently. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding, before taking this medicine.

What is it prescribed for?

Acute otitis media

Acute otitis media (AOM), is an infection of the middle ear (the area behind the eardrum), common in infants and young children. Tormoxin Plus Capsule is used to treat acute otitis media caused by bacteria.

Sinusitis

Sinusitis is the swelling of membranes that line your nose and surrounding sinuses ((hollow spaces behind the face)). It is often caused by bacteria and sometimes, viruses and fungi. You may experience a stuffed nose and pain or pressure behind your eyes, nose, cheeks, or forehead. Tormoxin Plus Capsule is used to treat bacterial sinusitis.

Urinary Tract Infection

An infection in any part of your urinary system- the kidneys, bladder, ureters (the tubes that pass urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder), or urethra (lower opening of the urinary bladder) is called urinary tract infection (UTIs). UTIs are caused by bacteria and in some cases, viruses or fungi. Tormoxin Plus Capsule is used to treat urinary tract infections caused by bacteria.

Endocarditis

Bacterial endocarditis is an infection in the inner lining of your heart caused by bacteria. It occurs when bacteria from another part of your body travel through the blood and attach to damaged areas of your heart. Tormoxin Plus Capsule is used to treat bacterial endocarditis.

Lower Respiratory Tract Infection

Tormoxin Plus Capsule is used to treat the following lung infections: 1. Pneumonia:- It is an infection of the air sacs in the lungs (either single or both lungs). It can be bacterial and viral. This medicine is used to treat pneumonia caused by bacteria. 2. Bronchitis:- It is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. It is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria.

Skin or soft tissue infection

Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Tormoxin Plus Capsule is used to treat all skin infections including abscess caused by bacteria.

Osteomyelitis

Osteomyelitis is an infection of the bones caused by bacteria. This generally occurs in the legs, arms, or spine. Tormoxin Plus Capsule may be used for the treatment of osteomyelitis.

Allergic Reaction

Diarrhoea

Tormoxin Plus Capsule can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Call your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Antibiotic-resistance

Finish the entire course of treatment with Tormoxin Plus Capsule, even if your condition gets better. Completing the course avoids antibiotic resistance (a condition where the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, make an appointment to consult your doctor.

Driving or Operating machinery

Use of Tormoxin Plus Capsule may cause lightheadedness or dizziness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a Tormoxin Plus Capsule dose, make sure that you remember to take your next dose on time. Do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.

Overdose

Never take Tormoxin Plus Capsule more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the emergency department of your local hospital.

Mononucleosis

People with mononucleosis (kissing disease) may develop a maculopapular skin rash after 5-10 days of treatment with this medicine that resolves within days of discontinuing the use. Tormoxin Plus Capsule may not be appropriate medicine in people with mononucleosis.

Colitis

Tormoxin Plus Capsule can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore, use this medicine with extreme caution if you have colitis (swelling of the colon's inner lining).

Kidney Disease

Special consideration is needed while receiving Tormoxin Plus Capsule due to the risk of kidney damage. Dose adjustment will be done by your doctor based on your clinical condition.

Urine Sugar Test

Report the use of Tormoxin Plus Capsule prior to the test. This medicine may give a false-positive result for the presence of glucose/sugar in your urine.
Take Tormoxin Plus Capsule orally with food and plenty of fluids to avoid an upset stomach. Finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may lead to a recurrence of the infection making it difficult to treat. Diarrhoea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics (good bacteria that keep you healthy) along with Tormoxin Plus Capsule may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Stop taking Tormoxin Plus Capsule and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.
