Description
Terramycin 500 MG Tablet is an antibiotic medicine. It is used for treating a range of bacterial infections occurring in different areas of your body such as lungs, eyes, reproductive organs, skin, urinary tract, etc.
Terramycin 500 MG Tablet may also be used to treat sexually transmitted infections like Gonorrhoea (infection in sex organs). This medicine works by preventing the growth of bacteria.
Terramycin 500 MG Tablet is the treatment of choice for people who do not respond to or are allergic to penicillin antibiotics. This medicine is given as an injection by a healthcare professional. Do not skip any dose and make sure you complete the entire course of treatment. Stopping the treatment early can make bacteria resistant to the antibiotic. This may lead to reoccurrence and worsening of the disease.
Terramycin 500 MG Tablet has some common side effects like diarrhoea, loss of appetite, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, and skin reaction on exposure to sunlight. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice any such side effects. Some people may develop pain and redness at the site of injection, but it is mostly temporary. Terramycin 500 MG Tablet is known to cause teeth discolouration in children.

What is it prescribed for?
Brucellosis
Brucellosis is a bacterial infection that occurs in humans from animals infected with the Brucella bacteria. This mainly occurs in people who work near or pet animals such as sheep, pigs, cattle, goats, etc. After infection, you may experience fever, back pain, headache, and weakness. The infection is mostly spread through close contact with infected animals or consuming contaminated animal products (like raw meat and unpasteurized milk). Terramycin 500 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of Brucellosis infection.
Pneumonia
Pneumonia is the most common type of lung infection that leads to swelling of your lungs due to the presence of excess fluid. This causes difficulty in breathing and cough. Terramycin 500 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae.
Rickettsial Infection
Rickettsial Infections are mainly caused by bacteria that spread the infection through ticks, lice, mites, and fleas. Terramycin 500 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of infections like Rocky Mountain spotted fever (a bacterial infection caused by the bite of an infected tick), Typhus fever (a group of infections epidemic typhus, scrub typhus and murine typhus. Q fever ( infection due to the bacterium Coxiella burnetti which may be caused due to the intake of contaminated air by infected animals), rickettsialpox ( scar formation at the location of the mite bite. It is a mite borne infection).
Bronchitis
Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in your lungs. Terramycin 500 MG Tablet is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and some Mycoplasma Pneumonia.
Chlamydia Infection
Chlamydia Infection occurs most commonly in women. It is caused by the bacterium called Chlamydia trachomatis. It shows very little or no symptoms. However, there may be pain and discharge from the genitals. This infection mainly occurs due to less hygiene, unprotected or unsafe sex, etc. Terramycin 500 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of this infection that is transmitted sexually in most individuals.
Bacterial conjunctivitis
Bacterial conjunctivitis or pink eye is a bacterial eye infection affecting the conjunctiva (a clear tissue covering the white part of your eye and lines the inside of the eyelid). It is more common in children and can be treated quickly. Terramycin 500 MG Tablet eye ointment is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis.
Gonococcal infection
Gonococcal infections are sexually transmitted infections often affecting the urethra (opening of urinary bladder), rectum or throat. In women, the infection can also occur in the cervix (narrow passage from the lower end of the uterus). Terramycin 500 MG Tablet is used for the treatment of Gonococcal infections.
Urinary Tract Infection
An infection in any part of your urinary system- the kidneys, bladder, ureters (small tubes in body that transfer urine from kidney to bladder), or urethra is called urinary tract infections (UTIs). UTIs are the most common infections in humans and women are at greater risk of getting this infection. Terramycin 500 MG Tablet is used to treat urinary tract infections caused by bacteria such as E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
