Description

Solfe Tablet is a combination of Folic acid, Sodium Feredetate, and Vitamin B12. It is used to treat iron deficiency anaemia and nutritional deficiencies. Solfe Tablet may cause some less common side effects such as nausea/vomiting, headache, diarrhoea, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or become severe. Solfe Tablet may be taken with or without food as advised by your doctor. Take it at the same time every day for the ease of remembering. Do not take more than the prescribed dose of this medicine. Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine. Solfe Tablet should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have pre-existing stomach/intestinal problems before beginning treatment with this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.

Nutritional deficiency occurs when your body does not get the necessary amount of nutrients such as vitamins and minerals from food. One such condition caused due to nutritional deficiency is anaemia (low blood cell counts). Solfe Tablet is used to treat nutritional deficiencies and helps to maintain normal functioning of the body.

Iron deficiency anaemia

Iron deficiency anaemia is a condition with a low red blood cell count resulting from low levels of iron in your body. Solfe Tablet is used in the treatment and prevention of anaemia. It is also used to prevent the risk of anaemia during pregnancy and lactation.

Allergy

Haemosiderosis refers to the excess build-up of iron deposits called haeamosiderin in the tissues. Solfe Tablet is not recommended for use if you have Haemosiderosis due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Antacids

Antacids (medicines that neutralise the stomach acid) may decrease the absorption and effectiveness of Solfe Tablet. Hence, maintain a time gap of at least one to two hours between the administration of these medicines.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Solfe Tablet. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose to compensate for a missed one.

Overdose

Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Contact your doctor if you suspect an overdose with Solfe Tablet.

Solfe Tablet may cause irritation and damage the lining of the stomach and intestine. Hence it should be used with caution if you have pre-existing stomach/intestinal problems such as peptic ulcer disease (sores on the inner lining of the stomach and intestine), enteritis (swelling of the small intestine), etc., as it may worsen your condition.

Iron occult test

A fecal occult blood test (FOBT) is performed to check for blood in the stool (feces). Solfe Tablet contains iron that causes the stool to darken. Hence it may interfere with the fecal occult blood test.
Solfe Tablet can be taken with or without food as directed by your doctor. Do not break, chew, or crush the tablet. Do not take more or less than the prescribed dose. Do not discontinue the use of Solfe Tablet without consulting your doctor. Alcohol may reduce the effectiveness of Solfe Tablet. Hence, it is recommended to avoid alcohol consumption while on treatment with this medicine. Solfe Tablet contains iron which may cause your stool to darken.
