Description

Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule is used after organ transplantation to prevent your body from rejecting the transplanted organ. It is also used to treat conditions like rheumatoid arthritis (pain and swelling in the joints) and psoriasis (skin disorder with red, scaly, and inflamed skin). This medicine works by suppressing the activity of your immune system. Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule may have side effects like nausea, vomiting, tremor, stomach upset, and headache. This medicine lowers your body's capacity to fight infections. Report any signs of infections like fever, rash, sore throat etc. to your doctor immediately. Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule can be taken with or without food. Take this medicine at the same time every day for maintaining a constant level of this medicine in your blood. Avoid the discontinuation of this medicine without consulting your doctor. Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems. Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule may increase your blood pressure and potassium levels in your blood. Hence, periodic monitoring of your health condition by your doctor may be necessary. Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule should be used with caution in elderly people (above the age of 65 years) due to the risk of developing side effects. If you are pregnant or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is a condition in which your own immune system attacks the joints in your body causing pain and swelling. Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule is used in combination with other medications for suppressing your immune system thus reduces pain and swelling.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a skin disease that causes red, itchy scaly patches, most commonly on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp. It is an autoimmune disease i.e. your immune system targets your own skin and affects it. Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule is used for the treatment of severe psoriasis by lowering the activity of your immune system.

Malignancies

Your doctor will inform you about these risks and advise you to prevent exposure to sunlight by wearing protective clothing.

Serious infections

Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule suppresses your immune system and further increases the risk of infections. Any symptoms such as a sore throat, fever, chills, etc. should be reported to your doctor immediately.

Hyperkalemia

Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule may increase the levels of potassium in your body and may increase the risk of arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats). Your doctor may adjust your dose or frequently monitor the functioning of your heart while you are taking this medicine

Hypertension

Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule should be used with extreme caution if you have high blood pressure as it can increase your blood pressure. Your doctor may adjust your dose or frequently monitor your blood pressure while you are taking this medicine.

Kidney Impairment

Sandimmun Neoral 50 mg Capsule should be used with caution if you have kidney problems as it may increase the risk of side effects. Your doctor will regularly monitor kidney functions or recommend dose adjustments based on your condition.

Liver impairment
