Description

Roxikind 50 MG Suspension is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the throat, airways, tonsils, lungs, skin and urinary tract- the kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra. This medicine kills or stops the growth of bacteria causing the infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Common side effects of Roxikind 50 MG Suspension are diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, changes in sense of taste, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Use it cautiously in individuals with liver problems. It should only be used to treat or prevent infections that are caused by bacteria. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment. You can take/administer Roxikind 50 MG Suspension on an empty stomach at least 15 minutes before food. For the ease of remembering, take this antibiotic at around the same time every day.

What is it prescribed for?

Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. If this infection affects both the throat and the tonsils, then it would be called pharyngotonsillitis. Roxikind 50 MG Suspension is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis.

Sinusitis

Sinusitis is the swelling of membranes that line your nose and surrounding sinuses. It is often caused by bacteria and sometimes, viruses and fungi. You may experience a stuffed nose and pain or pressure behind your eyes, nose, cheeks, or forehead. Roxikind 50 MG Suspension is used to treat bacterial sinusitis.

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. Roxikind 50 MG Suspension is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria.

Pneumonia

Pneumonia is an infection of the air sacs in the lungs (either single or both lungs). It can be bacterial and viral. Roxikind 50 MG Suspension is used to treat pneumonia caused by bacteria.

Skin and Soft tissue infections

Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Roxikind 50 MG Suspension is used to treat all skin infections including abscess caused by bacteria.

Urinary tract infection

An infection in any part of your urinary system- the kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra is called urinary tract infections (UTIs). Allergy

However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.

Liver damage

Do not use Roxikind 50 MG Suspension in patients with a history of cholestatic jaundice (a condition of reduced bile flow from the liver to the small intestine) or impaired liver function associated with prior use of this medicine.

Pregnancy

Roxikind 50 MG Suspension is generally safe in pregnancy to treat bacterial infections. It is not known to cause any harm to the fetus. However, in early pregnancy, it can increase the risk of major birth defects and therefore should only be used upon your doctor's recommendation.

General warnings

Antacids

Taking/administering an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium salts for indigestion, can increase the time it takes for Roxikind 50 MG Suspension to act on the body. Because of this, it is recommended to take/administer this antibiotic at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids.

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a skeletal muscle weakness condition characterized by severe weakness of any of the muscles under your voluntary control, including the arms and legs. Use Roxikind 50 MG Suspension with extreme caution in patients with myasthenia gravis since it may get worsen.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Roxikind 50 MG Suspension, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, make an appointment to consult your doctor.

Diarrhoea

Roxikind 50 MG Suspension can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Call your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Oral thrush

Roxikind 50 MG Suspension can cause mouth sores that may appear while using or soon after discontinuing the use. Contact your doctor if have sores in the mouth or swelling of the lips or tongue.

Missed Dose

Take/Administer the missed dose of Roxikind 50 MG Suspension as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, then the missed dose can be skipped.

Overdose

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose with Roxikind 50 MG Suspension.
