Description

Refzil O 500 Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections including skin and skin structure infections, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, etc. This medicine is not recommended for use in case of a common cold, flu, or other viral infections since it is active against infections caused by certain bacterial species only.

Uses of Refzil O 500 Tablet

What is it prescribed for?

Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

This medicine is used in the treatment of tonsilitis/pharyngitis, which is an inflammation of the tonsils/throat, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae.

Otitis media

This medicine is used in the treatment of otitis media, which is an inflammation of the middle ear, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis.

Acute Sinusitis

This medicine is used for the treatment of acute sinusitis, which is an inflammation of the sinuses, caused by bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, etc.

Acute Bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis

This medicine is used in the treatment of bronchitis, an inflammation of the inner lining of the bronchial tubes, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus Influenzae, and some Mycoplasma pneumoniae.

Skin and Skin Structure Infection

This medicine is used in the treatment of infections of the skin and skin structures caused by bacteria. These infections may include infected wounds, folliculitis, abscesses, cellulitis, ulcers, etc.

Report any such incidence to the doctor on priority and avoid usage of this medicine in such cases.

Kidney impairment

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients suffering from kidney diseases due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of kidney function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Drug resistance

Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

Use in children

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 6 months of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.
