Description

Protil-P Tablet is a combination of Paracetamol and Prochlorperazine. It is primarily used to treat pain and associated symptoms of migraine. Migraine is a severe headache that is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain, swelling, and fever. It also suppresses the signals in your brain that cause nausea and vomiting. Some common side effects of Protil-P Tablet are constipation, dark urine, stomach pain, dizziness, etc. However, these symptoms are temporary and go away with time. Consult your doctor if the side effects become severe or persist for a long time. It is recommended that you take Protil-P Tablet with or without food, preferably at bedtime. The dose and duration of this medicine will be prescribed by your doctor. Take it at the same time every day for better results. What is it prescribed for?

Migraine

Migraine is a severe headache that is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound. The pain may get triggered due to factors such as stress, exercise, hormonal changes (during periods), anxiety, etc. Protil-P Tablet provides relief from pain by preventing the synthesis of specific chemicals in your brain that causes pain. It also alleviates migraine symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.

Tardive dyskinesia (TD) is a movement disease characterised by involuntary, repeated movements of the body. Protil-P Tablet may aggravate the symptoms of TD such as involuntary movements of the tongue, lips, and face. Thus, use this medicine with caution if you have such a condtion. Inform your doctor immediately if symptoms like these appear.

Kidney disease

Protil-P Tablet is excreted by the kidney. Take this medicine with caution If you have impaired kidney function. If you are taking this medicine for a long time, get your kidney function tests done.

Driving or operating machinery

Protil-P Tablet may cause drowsiness or dizziness. It is recommended that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you missed a dose of Protil-P Tablet at a given time, then take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Liver Disease

Dementia

Protil-P Tablet is not recommended for use if you have Dementia (loss of memory other thinking abilities). This medicine may increase the risk of life-threatening conditions such as heart failure and infectious diseases like pneumonia. Parkinson's disease

Parkinson's disease is a nervous system disorder that affects your body movements. Reye's Syndrome

How it works

Protil-P Tablet contains Paracetamol and Prochlorperazine as its major ingredients. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and anti-pyretic (fever reducer). It decreases the severity of pain signals to your brain. It also stops the release of chemicals called prostaglandins, that increase pain, and body temperature. Prochlorperazine is an antiemetic (anti-nausea) medicine. It works by binding to the receptors and blocking the release of chemical substances that cause nausea and vomiting.
