Description

Picolax Tablet is a laxative medicine used in the treatment of constipation. It stimulates the movement within the intestines which helps facilitate the passage of stool. It is also used with other medicines for bowel cleansing before colonoscopy or surgery. This medicine is available in different dosage forms like oral solution, tablet, syrup. Picolax Tablet may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting and headache. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms persist. Picolax Tablet increases water loss so it is advised that you drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration and electrolyte loss. Picolax Tablet should be taken at bedtime as it can take 6-8 hours to produce the effect. Picolax Tablet should be taken 2 hours after other medicines as it can affect their absorption. It should not be used for more than 5 days as prolonged use can cause electrolyte imbalance and dependence on Picolax Tablet. Picolax Tablet is not recommended for use in children below the age of 10 years. Consult your doctor before using this medicine, if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding. Picolax Tablet is not recommended if you have any dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, stomach or intestine blockage disorders. Inform your doctor immediately if you feel any stomach discomfort while using this medicine. This medicine is to be taken along with a high-fibre diet including fruits and vegetables for best results.
