Description

Phytoral Lotion is an antifungal medicine that contains Ketoconazole and Zinc Pyrithione. It is used in the treatment of seborrhoeic dermatitis (a condition that causes red, dry, flaky, itchy skin on the scalp). Phytoral Lotion works by weakening the cell membrane (protective covering) of the fungi. Thus, it treats the infection by killing the fungi and preventing the further spread of infection. Phytoral Lotion has some minor side effects like skin redness, dryness, or burning sensation at the site of application. Before you start using it, perform a patch test by applying it to a small area on your skin to know how your skin will react to this medicine. Discontinue the use and consult your doctor if you experience severe burning, itching of the skin, rashes, etc. Phytoral Lotion should be used as prescribed by your doctor. It is recommended for external use only. Avoid direct contact with the eyes, mouth, or open wounds. Wash thoroughly with water in case of accidental contact. Phytoral Lotion may not be safe to be used during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using this medicine, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. Inform your doctor if you do not notice any improvement in your condition even after two to four weeks of use.

How it works

Phytoral Lotion is a combination of Ketoconazole and Zinc pyrithione. Ketoconazole stops the production of ergosterol, which is a vital component for the formation of fungal cell membranes (protective covering). Thus it kills the fungi and prevents the further spread of infection. Zinc pyrithione interferes with protein processes essential for the growth of fungi.
