Description
Pentids 400 Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat and prevent certain infections caused by bacteria. It is mainly effective in treating bacterial infections of the respiratory tract- throat, lungs, nose, and skin. Pentids 400 Tablet stops the growth of bacteria causing the infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses.
Pentids 400 Tablet may cause few side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Pentids 400 Tablet. Maintain caution while using it in individuals with kidney and liver problems. Pentids 400 Tablet can make birth control pills less effective.
Take Pentids 400 Tablet with or without food. You can take this tablet around the same time every day for ease of remembering. For the best results, take this antibiotic at evenly spaced times. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment.

What is it prescribed for?
Sinusitis
Sinusitis is the swelling of membranes that line your nose and surrounding sinuses. It is often caused by bacteria and sometimes, viruses and fungi. You may experience a stuffed nose and pain or pressure behind your eyes, nose, cheeks, or forehead. Pentids 400 Tablet is used to treat bacterial sinusitis.
Lung infections
Pentids 400 Tablet is used to treat the following lung infections:
1. Pneumonia is an infection of the air sacs in the lungs (either single or both lungs). It can be bacterial and viral. Pentids 400 Tablet is used to treat pneumonia caused by bacteria.
2. Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. Pentids 400 Tablet is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria.
Skin and soft tissue infections
Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Pentids 400 Tablet is used to treat all skin infections including abscess caused by bacteria.
Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. If this infection affects both the throat and the tonsils, then it would be called pharyngotonsillitis. Pentids 400 Tablet is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis.
Bacterial infections
Pentids 400 Tablet is used for the treatment of bacterial infections affecting different parts of the body.
Prophylaxis for Rheumatic Fever

Antibiotic resistance
Finish your entire course of treatment with Pentids 400 Tablet, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, make an appointment to consult your doctor.
Driving or operating machinery
Pentids 400 Tablet may cause dizziness, confusion, or fits in some people. Do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery after taking this medicine.
Diarrhoea
Pentids 400 Tablet can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Call your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.
Allergic reaction
Pentids 400 Tablet is likely to cause severe allergic reactions in some people. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or breathing difficulties.
