Description

Oxiconazole is an antifungal medicine. It is used to treat fungal skin infections such as athlete's foot (itchy, scaly, and white patches on the feet and between the toes), jock itch (red and itchy rashes in warm and moist areas of the body), ringworm (red, itchy, and circular-shaped rashes with clear skin in the middle affecting the skin, scalp, or nails), etc. It works by killing the fungi by damaging its cell membrane (protective covering). Thus, it prevents the spread of fungal infections. Oxiconazole may cause some side effects like burning sensation, irritation, itching, redness, or dry or flaky skin at the site of application. These symptoms usually resolve with time. However, consult your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen. Avoid using this medicine if you are allergic to it. Oxiconazole is meant for external use only. Use this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, and open wounds. Wash thoroughly with water in case of accidental contact. Do not apply more than the prescribed quantity of this medicine. Oxiconazole may not be suitable for everyone. Inform your doctor about all your medical conditions and the ongoing medications. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before using this medicine.

Do not use bandages or dressings to cover the affected area unless directed by your doctor. To prevent athlete's foot, keep your feet clean and dry, particularly between the toes. Cut your nails short and prefer open-toe shoes for everyday use. Use a separate clean towel for the feet and wear clean cotton socks. Never share your socks, shoes, and towel with others.
