Description

Neosporin H Ointment is a combination medicine which can be used for skin and ophthalmic use. This medicine is used to treat topical bacterial skin infections and relieves itching, burning, swelling, and pain of the skin associated with insect bites and various conditions like eczema or dermatitis where bacterial infection is present or suspected to happen. It is also used for the treatment of bacterial eye infections. It is recommended not to use the same tube for skin and eye infections that is two separate tubes should be used.

What is it prescribed for?

Bacterial skin infections

This medicine is used for the prevention and treatment of topical bacterial skin infections associated with minor cuts, abrasions, burns, injuries, etc. It also relieves itching, burning, swelling, and pain of the skin associated with insect bites and various conditions like eczema or dermatitis where bacterial infection is present or suspected to happen.

Bacterial eye infections

This medicine is used for the prevention and treatment of bacterial eye infections associated with eye surgery, injuries, conjunctivitis, keratitis, other eye conditions, etc.

Kidney Disease

Diarrhea

Antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora of the large intestine, which may promote the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile and you may experience severe diarrhea as a result. Report any such incidence to the doctor on priority and avoid usage of this medicine in such cases.

Duration of therapy

This medicine is usually recommended to use for not more than 7 days unless prescribed by your physician. Consult your physician in case of persisting symptoms of infection.

Driving or operating machinery

Ophthalmic use of this medicine may cause blurred vision in some patients. If you experience blurred vision during treatment with this medicine, it is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery until your vision is clear.

Other medicines

This combination medicine may interact with many other medicines and may cause severe adverse effects. Hence, it is advised that you inform the doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs and supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.

Aminoglycosides
