MAXCEF CV DRY SYRUP is a combination medicine used for treating a variety of bacterial infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, and uncomplicated skin infections. This medicine is not recommended for use in infants less than 3 months of age.

What is it prescribed for?
Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis
This medicine is used in the treatment of tonsillitis/pharyngitis, which is an inflammation of the tonsils/throat, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae.
Acute maxillary Sinusitis
This medicine is used in the treatment of acute maxillary sinusitis, an inflammation of the sinuses, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, etc.
Acute Bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
This medicine is used in the treatment of an acute worsening of chronic bronchitis, an inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubules, caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae or some Mycoplasma pneumoniae.
Secondary Bacterial infection of Acute Bronchitis
This medicine is used in the treatment of secondary bacterial infections of acute bronchitis, which is an inflammation of the lining of bronchial tubules, that usually happens following a previous viral or bacterial infection.
Skin and Skin Structure Infection
This medicine is used in the treatment of uncomplicated infections of the skin and skin structures caused by bacteria. These infections may include infected wounds, folliculitis, abscesses, cellulitis, ulcers, etc.
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
This medicine is used in the treatment of infections of the urinary tract caused by Escherichia coli or Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Lyme disease

General warnings
Clostridium difficile-associated Diarrhea
Discontinue the use of this medicine as per the doctor's instructions if severe diarrhea occurs after receiving this medicine. This medicine may cause an imbalance in the microbial flora of the large intestine, decreasing the gut-friendly bacteria and promoting the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile, resulting in severe diarrhea.
Impaired kidney function
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a pre-existing kidney disease due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of kidney function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.
Drug-resistance
Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.
Use in pediatrics
This medicine is not recommended for use in infants less than 3 months of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.
Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction
This medicine may cause Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction in some patients when used for more than 7 days. The symptoms of this reaction may include fever, chills, headache, low blood pressure, increased heart rate, etc. This reaction is usually self-limiting and subsides with the resolution of infection.
