Description

Lorlip-LS Tablet is a combination of Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate. It is used for the treatment of hyperlipidemia (high levels of fat) and the prevention of heart attack. It works by lowering the bad cholesterol and increases the level of good cholesterol in your body. Lorlip-LS Tablet may show some side effects like runny nose, sneezing, diarrhoea, headache and joint pain. These side effects subside on their own as your body starts adapting to this medicine. Consult your doctor if any side effects persist or worsen. It is recommended that you avoid taking this medicine if previously allergic to it. Lorlip-LS Tablet can be taken with or without food. For the ease of remembering, take this medicine around the same time every day. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so. Abrupt discontinuation may worsen your condition. Lorlip-LS Tablet may interact with the action of other medicines. Inform your doctor about any other health issues like liver, kidney, heart troubles or if you are undergoing any medical treatment before taking this medicine. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

What is it prescribed for?

Hyperlipidemia

Hyperlipidemia is a condition in which there is an increase in the level of fat in your body. Lorlip-LS Tablet reduces the level of cholesterol, removes the bad cholesterol (LDL) and increases the levels of good cholesterol (HDL) in your blood.

Prevention of heart Attack

A heart attack occurs when the blood vessels of your heart get blocked due to clot formation or fat/cholesterol buildup. Lorlip-LS Tablet is used to lower cholesterol and fat levels, thus it lowers the risk of a heart attack.

Allergy

Kidney Disease

Lorlip-LS Tablet is not recommended for use if you have kidney troubles. This medicine is exerted through urine and improper kidney function may lead to its accumulation in your body. It may further lead to rhabdomyolysis (leakage of muscle contents into the blood circulation) and severe hyperkalemia (high level of potassium in your blood).

Gallbladder disease

Lorlip-LS Tablet is not recommended for use if you have a known history of gallbladder diseases due to the increased risk of gallbladder stones.

Liver disease

Lorlip-LS Tablet is contraindicated in liver diseases like biliary cirrhosis (a disease that harms the liver's ability to function). This medicine may further raise the already elevated levels of cholesterol in your body.

Lorlip-LS Tablet is usually not advised during pregnancy since it might have significant side effects on your foetus. However, if you are pregnant your doctor may prescribe alternative medicine with the same medicinal effect.

Hematologic Changes

Lorlip-LS Tablet should be used with caution due to the risk of a decrease in the haemoglobin and white blood cell counts.

Concomitant Oral Anticoagulants

Lorlip-LS Tablet should be used with caution if you are taking anticoagulant medicines (blood thinner) due to the increased risk of excessive bleeding.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a dose of Lorlip-LS Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose of Lorlip-LS Tablet. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the nearer emergency medical department/hospital.
