Description

Lizomac-CX Tablet is a combination medicine that consists of cefixime and linezolid. It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the ear, sinus, throat, urinary tract, lungs and blood. It works by killing or stopping the growth and multiplication of bacteria. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Lizomac-CX Tablet can cause side effects like anaemia, decrease in white blood cell and platelet count, stomach pain, indigestion, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and flatulence. Seek medical attention if any of these side effects persist or worsen. It may cause dizziness or drowsiness so avoid any activity that requires concentration such as driving after taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you feel pain in your tendons after using this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. Lizomac-CX Tablet can be taken with or without food at the same time every day. Take this medicine same time every day. Be sure to complete the course as directed by your doctor in order to avoid bacterial resistance to this medicine. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine as it can cause excessive drowsiness. Do not take this with foods like aged cheese, cured meats, some tropical fruit and beer as they can decrease its efficiency. Lizomac-CX Tablet may not be suitable for all people. Hence, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases before starting the treatment with this medicine. This medicine is not recommended to be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using Lizomac-CX Tablet.

What is it prescribed for?

Community acquired pneumonia

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) refers to pneumonia (lung infection) that is acquired outside the hospital. CAP can be bacterial or viral. Lizomac-CX Tablet is used to treat CAP caused by bacteria.

Urinary tract infection

An infection in any part of your urinary system- the kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra is called a urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIs are the most common infections in humans and women are at greater risk of getting this infection. UTIs are caused by bacteria and in some cases, viruses or fungi. Lizomac-CX Tablet is used to treat urinary tract infections caused by bacteria.

Acute bronchitis

Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. Lizomac-CX Tablet is used to treat acute bronchitis caused by bacteria.

Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. If it is the infection affects both the throat and the tonsils, then it would be called pharyngotonsillitis. Lizomac-CX Tablet is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis.

Acute bacterial otitis media

Otitis media (AOM), is an infection of the middle ear (the area behind the eardrum), common in infants and young children. Lizomac-CX Tablet is used to treat acute otitis media caused by bacteria.

Gonorrhoea

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by Neisseria gonorrhoea bacteria that infects both men and women. It spreads during vaginal, oral or anal sex without using a condom or other barrier method. Lizomac-CX Tablet is used to treat the gonococcal infection.

Bacterial Septicemia

Lizomac-CX Tablet is used in the treatment of septicemia which is an infection of the blood caused by bacteria.

Optic neuropathy

Prolong therapy with Lizomac-CX Tablet may cause vision problems when you take this medicine for more than 28 days. Any symptoms of changes in vision should be informed to the doctor.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Lizomac-CX Tablet, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.

Lactic acidosis

Lactic acidosis is a condition in which lactate builds up in the blood and makes it acidic. This condition can damage the liver, kidneys and other organs of your body. Using Lizomac-CX Tablet should be avoided in this condition as it may worsen your condition.

Allergic skin reaction

Lizomac-CX Tablet is likely to cause allergic skin reactions. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, or severe itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), especially on the face.

Diarrhoea

Lizomac-CX Tablet can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Consult your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Driving or operating machinery

Lizomac-CX Tablet may cause dizziness, confusion, or fits. Do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery after taking this medicine.

Liver diseases

Lizomac-CX Tablet may increase liver enzyme levels and cause liver swelling. Inform your doctor if you have the liver disease before taking this medicine as it may increase the risk of liver damage. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine if required.

Seizures

Use Lizomac-CX Tablet with caution if you have seizures or fits because it can worsen the condition. Seizure medicines should be continued by consulting your doctor in case you have a known seizure disorder. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine if required.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Lizomac-CX Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
