Description

Lipi EZ-40 Tablet is a combination of Atorvastatin and Ezetimibe. It is used in the treatment of high blood cholesterol and triglycerides (fats) levels. Lipi EZ-40 Tablet works by blocking the formation of bad cholesterol and fats in your body and preventing the absorption of cholesterol from your small intestine. Lipi EZ-40 Tablet may cause side effects like headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and muscle pain. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen. Lipi EZ-40 Tablet is a prescription medicine. Take it with or without food. Do not stop taking this medicine on your own or without consulting your doctor, as it may worsen your condition and lead to other complications. Try not to skip the scheduled dose of Lipi EZ-40 Tablet and avoid an overdose of this medicine. Lipi EZ-40 Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. To make sure Lipi EZ-40 Tablet is safe for you, inform your doctor about your pre-existing medical condition and current medications you are taking. Inform your doctor if you notice signs of liver problems such as stomach pain, unusually dark urine, or yellowing of your skin or eyes. Also, inform your doctor if you experience muscle pain or weakness, particularly if it is accompanied by fever. Lipi EZ-40 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 10 years of age. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding.

What is it prescribed for?

Hypercholesterolaemia

Hypercholesterolaemia is a condition characterised by high levels of cholesterol in your blood. Lipi EZ-40 Tablet is used to treat hypercholesterolaemia.

Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease

High cholesterol levels accumulate in your blood vessels (coronary artery) and narrows or block the blood vessels leading to an interrupted blood supply to your heart. Lipi EZ-40 Tablet is used to reduce the risk of heart problems by lowering the levels of bad cholesterol and fats in your blood.

Rhabdomyolysis

Rhabdomyolysis is a condition in which damaged muscle fibres enter your bloodstream, leading to kidney failure. Lipi EZ-40 Tablet should be used with caution if you have rhabdomyolysis as it may further worsen your condition. Inform your doctor if you experience symptoms like muscle pain, weakness, fever, dark/reddish urine, etc. Your doctor may suggest tests to periodically monitor the creatine phosphokinase levels (high levels of this enzyme indicate muscle injury) while taking this medicine.

Diabetes

Lipi EZ-40 Tablet may alter your blood sugar levels. Hence, caution should be exercised while taking this medicine if you are diabetic (presence of high blood sugar levels). Your doctor may advise you to monitor your blood sugar levels frequently during the treatment with this medicine.

Food interactions

Avoid taking Lipi EZ-40 Tablet with grapefruit juice as it may increase the concentration of this medicine in your blood. This may increase the risk of side effects.
