Description

Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet is a combination medicine that consists of Cefixime and Clavulanic acid. It is an antibiotic that is used to treat a variety of conditions such as urinary tract infections, ear infections, and lung infections caused by bacteria. It works by killing or stopping the growth and multiplication of bacteria. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses or fungi. Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet can cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, etc. Seek medical attention if any of these side effects persist or worsen. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. This medicine is not recommended for use in children less than 10 years of age. Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet can be taken with or without food. Take this medicine at the same time every day. Be sure to complete the course as directed by your doctor in order to avoid bacterial resistance to this medicine. It may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills and the cholera vaccine. Hence, inform your doctor about your ongoing medicines. Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet may not be suitable for all people. Inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or blood clotting/bleeding issues before taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding mother before starting therapy with Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet as it may not be safe for use.

What is it prescribed for?

Uncomplicated urinary tract infections

An infection in any part of your urinary system (kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra) is called a urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIs are caused by bacteria and in some cases, viruses or fungi. Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet is used to treat this condition.

Upper respiratory tract infections

Upper respiratory tract infection is a condition in which the upper respiratory parts (nasal cavity, nostrils, throat and voice box) get infected by bacteria. Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet is used in the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections caused by bacteria where the causative organism is known or suspected to be resistant to other commonly used antibiotics.

Tonsilitis/Pharyngitis

Tonsilitis is the swelling and redness of the tonsils and pharyngitis is the swelling and redness of the throat (pharynx). If the infection affects both the throat and the tonsils, then it would be called pharyngotonsillitis. Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet is used in the treatment of tonsillitis and pharyngitis caused by bacteria.

Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis

Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis is a condition where airways are obstructed due to swelling of the lining of the bronchial tubules and it leads to lung problems. Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet is used to treat this condition.

Gonorrhoea

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted disease caused by unprotected sex with an infected person. It affects both men and women. Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet is used in the treatment of Gonorrhoea caused by Neisseria gonorrhoea bacteria.

Acute bacterial otitis media

Acute bacterial otitis media is the swelling and infection of the middle ear. It occurs as a result of a throat infection, cold or respiratory infection. Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet is used in the treatment of otitis media (middle ear infection) caused by bacteria.

Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea

Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. This leads to an overgrowth of the Clostridium bacteria which releases a toxin that causes severe diarrhoea. Seek medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody.

Bleeding disorders

Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet should be used with caution if you have bleeding disorders due to the increased risk of excessive bleeding. Regular monitoring of prothrombin time is necessary in such cases. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine if required.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose of Hifen-CV 100 DT Tablet. Seek emergency medical treatment or contact your doctor if you suspect that you might have taken an overdose.
