Description

Herpikind 5% Ointment is an antiviral medication. It is used for the treatment of genital herpes (an infection that causes sores around the genitals and rectum area). It is also used to treat herpes infections of the skin and around the mouth (cold sores) in people with a weakened immune system. It works by inhibiting the growth of the virus responsible for the infection. Herpikind 5% Ointment does not cure the infection and stop the spread of these conditions, however, it decreases the severity of the infection and reduces the symptoms. Herpikind 5% Ointment may cause side effects like redness, itching, or burning sensation at the site of application. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects do not resolve with time or worsen. Herpikind 5% Ointment should be used as prescribed by your doctor. Clean and dry the affected area and apply a thin film of this medicine on it. Wash your hands before and after the application of this medicine. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, or broken skin. Rinse thoroughly with water in case of accidental contact. Herpikind 5% Ointment is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have a history of a weak immune system. Inform your doctor if you are using any other topical medications or skin care products before starting the treatment. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding before using the medicine. It is not recommended for children below 12 years of age.

Herpikind 5% Ointment is meant for use on the skin only. Clean and dry the affected area. Apply a thin layer of this medicine to the affected area and spread uniformly. Apply it at the same time daily for ease of remembering. Do not apply it more than the recommended dose. Do not stop the medicine without consulting your doctor. Do not use this medicine in the eyes, or inside of the mouth or nose. You are advised to maintain a hygienic condition. Avoid touching the sores unnecessarily with your hands or towel to avoid spreading the infection. Consult your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 10 days of treatment. Avoid any physical contact until your infections get treated.
