Description

Exemestane is used in the treatment of early stage breast cancer in postmenopausal women and in women who have already been treated with tamoxifen for 2 to 3 years without much clinical response. Patients with vitamin D deficiency are advised to take vitamin D supplements during treatment with this medicine.

Vitamin D deficiency

Exemestane may cause vitamin D deficiency. The level of 25-hydroxy vitamin D should be assessed prior to initiating the treatment. Routine monitoring of vitamin D levels, appropriate corrective measures, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Co-administration with estrogen containing products

This medicine is not recommended for use along with estrogen containing products since these products may alter the effects of the medicine and vice versa.

Use in premenopausal women

This medicine is not indicated for use in premenopausal women.

Sports

Use of this medicine during sports events is prohibited by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
