Description

Dyamide Plus 20 Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of resistant edema associated with secondary hyperaldosteronism, resistant hypertension, nephrotic syndrome, chronic cardiac failure, and hepatic cirrhosis. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age.

What is it prescribed for?

Resistant edema associated with secondary Hyperaldosteronism

This medicine is used in the treatment of resistant edema associated with secondary hyperaldosteronism, a condition where aldosterone is produced excessively due to reduced blood flow to the kidneys.

Congestive Heart Failure

This medicine is used in the treatment of congestive heart failure by preventing water reabsorption.

Resistant Hypertension

This medicine is used in the treatment of resistant hypertension, a condition where the blood pressure remains above 140/90 mmHg despite the concurrent use of three antihypertensive agents of different classes, one of which should be a diuretic.

Hepatic cirrhosis

This medicine is used in the symptomatic treatment of hepatic cirrhosis, a condition characterized by jaundice, ascites, weight loss, swelling of legs, easy bleeding or bruising, etc.

Nephrotic Syndrome

This medicine is used in the symptomatic treatment of nephrotic syndrome, which is a kidney disorder characterized by weight gain due to excess fluid retention, severe swelling around your eyes, ankles, and feet, etc.

Hypotension

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with low blood pressure (hypotension) condition, due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Eplerenone

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients who are concomitantly taking eplerenone due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Adrenal insufficiency (Addison's disease)

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients who are suffering from adrenal insufficiency due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Pregnancy

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

Breast-feeding

This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. Your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding or to discontinue the drug based on your clinical condition.

General warnings

Hyperkalemia

This medicine may increase the potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia). This may cause serious side effects such as fatal cardiac rhythm irregularities. It is advised to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (ACE inhibitors and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine.

Diabetes

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with diabetes mellitus due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of blood glucose levels and electrolyte levels is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Volume depletion and Electrolyte imbalance

This medicine may alter the blood volume and electrolyte levels in some patients. This may cause dizziness, dry mouth, and acid-base imbalance. This risk is especially higher in patients suffering from kidney and liver diseases. Close monitoring of blood pressure and electrolyte levels is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Use in elderly patients

This medicine should be used with caution in elderly patients due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Appropriate dose adjustments may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

Hearing problem
